Applications to the Belfast Hills Explorer Programme for 16-18 year olds are now open.

Are you aged 16-18 and interested in nature and the outdoors? Then our Hills Explorer
Programme could be right up your street! We’re offering four FREE outdoor nature sessions for
16-18 year olds on Wednesdays in August 9.30am – 4pm.

Each week we’ll be exploring a different site in the Belfast Hills, discovering its wildlife,
helping some of the species that call it home, and gaining a nationally recognised John Muir
Award
in the process!

Activities will include practical conservation sessions, wildlife surveys, and some other
general activities like hikes, bushcraft and arts/crafts. As well as giving participants the
chance to explore nature, the Hills Explorer Programme is designed to improve the health
and wellbeing of those taking part, with sessions based around the 5 Ways to Wellbeing.
To sign up, just download the form below (if you’re 17 or under, you need to make sure to
get the parent/guardian permission section of the form signed too). Spaces are limited and
allocated on a first come first served basis.

Completed forms or any queries, should be sent to [email protected]

This programme is part of Wild Youth, a joint project between the Belfast Hills Partnership
and Ulster Wildlife, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund. Wild Youth delivers
wild wellbeing sessions with young people in and around the Belfast Hills, using nature to
improve their physical and mental health. For more information about the Belfast Hills area
