Hikers and riders are on the scent of a scenic sizzle with the opening of coffee shop facilities on Divis and Black Mountain.
Weary walkers and famished visitors are flocking to sample the homemade baking and cooking delights at Divis Coffee Barn that at 1,025 ft proudly boasts Ireland’s highest coffee shop.
Located a short walk inside the entrance of the National Trust site, it’s the perfect pitstop after a walk on the newly signposted Ridge Trail, Summit Trail and Lough Trail paths.
The cafe culture mountain experience threw open its doors recently to Belfast Lord Mayor Nichola Mallon who gave a civic thumbs up for the facility, which also caters for thirsty and hungry pooches.
Walking groups say the barn bakery and cafe is a cozy welcome after a hearty walk in the Belfast Hills.
Andrea McKernon of the Belfast Dynamos walking group said her walkers were bowled over by great coffee and delicious delicacies.
“The smell of baking is lovely and my walkers were delighted with the homemade scones and traybakes, soup and coffee. Divis Coffee Barn is dog friendly, with water bowls provided and they have even a dog cookie jar for treats” she said.
“There’s an outdoor seating area with places to put dogs and the service is friendly and helpful. We will be making a trip to Divis Coffee Barn a priority when we’re up walking on Divis and Black Mountain.“
Divis Coffee Barn is a new coffee shop, serving home-baked food and Bewley’s signature coffees and teas.
