It is vital to educate the local children about the importance of the hills as the hills are their heritage to be looked after for future generations for recreation and biodiversity alike. Unfortunately it is often young people who are seen lighting fires or using sites for underage drinking.
We undertook a Schools education programme of school visits, talks, wildfire film creation, resources and linked site visits fitting in with existing provision, themed on biodiversity, wildfires, local built and community heritage and citizenship.
We developed a specific programme for 11-18yr olds following the Landscape Partnership Scheme, under the Our Bright Future scheme. Click here to find out more about it.
