One Million Trees
Belfast Hills Partnership are proud to be a partner in Belfast One Million Trees – a key programme to support climate adaptation across the city.
By working with others to plant one million trees, we are aiming to:
- reduce carbon storage in the atmosphere
- improve air quality
- reduce flooding
- increase urban cooling
- support and enhance biodiversity
- improve physical and mental health and wellbeing
Belfast One Million Trees was inspired by an original idea from the Belfast Metropolitan Residents Group and it is a collaboration between public, private and voluntary sector partners.
Driven by Belfast City Council, other partners include the Woodland Trust Northern Ireland, the Conservation Volunteers, Belfast Hills Partnership, National Trust, NI Housing Executive, the Department for Infrastructure, the Department for Communities, Northern Ireland Electricity, Queen’s University, Belfast Harbour, Education Authority, Belfast Trust, Translink, Belfast Metropolitan Residents Group, PSNI and Invest NI.
